Story: Bao's First Love

Another story. This time, it's about a prince and his first love.

!complete!

!Warning!
This story includes the following; Crude words, mentions of polygamy,

--------------------
In a far away land, long ago. There was a king with many beautiful wives. The king had 20 princes and 50 princesses. This story is about one of the princes. Bao was a quiet man, who was studious and had a passion for arts. He was of age, but had not taken a wife yet. He saw the king's many wives fight and plot against each other for the king's love and was saddened by this. He vowed to only take one wife.
His family would often drag him to banquets to meet eligible young women, but he would leave early making excuses. He felt they wanted to marry him because he was a prince, and not want to know him for who he was.
One New Year's Banquet the king had held, the king had asked if he had someone in his heart. Bao replied with a simple "no." The king sighed and told him he had waited long enough and was time he took a wife. The queen smiles at the king and "Didn't one of your trusted ministers have a daughter ready for marriage?" The king smiled at this and agreed and he would arrange for marriage between the two. Bao could only hide his frown at this turn of events. There were many meetings between the families before the wedding, but he made excuses every time and never attended them. Too soon for Bao, the night of the wedding came. He went through the motions, but his heart was elsewhere. He never removed his bride's veil, and never went to visit her that night. And for the next few months, he kept busy with his studies and training and didn't give his new wife any time.
One day, he was in the gardens of his mother's palace on his way to visit her. He walked in the garden admiring the beautiful scenery. He suddenly stops his step. He sees a beautiful woman wearing a soft green dress and raven hair. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. Then a voice calls his name. He turns around and sees his mother. She asks when she'll be seeing grandchildren, and he replies with a hum. He turns to look at the beauty he saw just a moment ago, but she was nowhere in sight.
A year has passed since the wedding. He still hasn't visited his wife's chambers and hadn't seen her. He stayed in his study and kept drawing the woman he saw over and over. He couldn't stop thinking about her even if he's only seen her once. He sighs and wonders if he had dreamt that day. A strong gust of wind blew in an open window and picks up his latest drawing. He tries to grab it from flying out the window, but it slips through his fingers. He rushes out of the room and chases after it. It glides through his garden and falls near a silhouette. The silhouette picks up the drawing and slowly walks towards him. His eyes widen in shock. The silhouette belonged to the beautiful woman he had fallen in love with at first sight. "It's beautiful." She says handing him the drawing. "You're beautiful." He says an blushes at his own words. She smiles shyly. "... What is your name? Why are you here?" She laughs softly. "Have you forgotten your wife's name?" He mentally kicks himself for avoiding all those meetings and not visiting her sooner. "It's getting cold." She says and takes his hands. He nods and lets her lead him back to his room.
Many moons later, Bao's brother is visiting for a drink. "So, you're telling me... You fell in love with your own wife and didn't know?!" "I hadn't visited my wife before then." His brother laughs. "You're an idiot." Bao glares at his brother, but soon joins the laughter.
"That I am." He looks at his wife holding his child in her arms and smiles.

a/n
This was a story I dabbled last night while chatting with friends on a game.
It is completely made-up and was written on the spot. This story was influenced by the many historical Chinese and Korean dramas I've seen. It is for purely entertainment purpse, and I do not entend to hurt anybody's views or beliefs. However, it may not be for everyone and will have a warning of what is included in the story. You have been informed.
Also, it was written on my (not-so)smartphone, so there may be some misspellings and I may have missed something even if I've reviewd beforehand... Please
bear with me.

!Warning!
mentions of the following; illness, death, blood, political and family disputes(for plot purpose), pain, superstition,

------------------
Like many good stories, this begins with "Once upon a time.
There lived a husband and wife who had nine children. They had lost their first child, and had six brothers and their youngest were twin sisters. The parents were mature of age at the time and the brothers had either had already taken the exam to join the royal court or had joined the military when the twins were born.
The night the twins were born, there was a lunar eclipse and shooting stars in the sky. The parents were both thrilled and worried at the same time. Shooting stars were a sign of good fortune, but an eclipse was an omen. The twins were named Stars and Moon, and despitete their parents' worries, theygrew beautiful and bright.
One day, the royal highness has decided it was time his second and third sons were to wed. The twins were chosen to wed the brothers. Stars, the elder, married the second prince. Moon, the youner, married the third prince. The second prince was seens as cold and distant at first glance, but was a gentle man with great passion in his heart. The third prince was brave and center of the crowd, but was quick to solve issues with fear and force.
The royal highness had not appointed a crown prince, feeling the first prince was not worthy of the title. Though there was an heir issue, since the royal highness was still young and healthy, non would speak of the issue. Untill the first prince causes a scandal...
The first prince had fallen in love with one of the royal highness's consorts. He sent gifts and poetry, which she refused saying she was the royal highness's consort. The first prince kills the consort in his rage of refusal. The first prince was sent to a far away palace, and his mother was killed for raising such a son. This soon starts feud between the princes and ministers. They settle between the second and third prince. The Second prince aims to use arts and economy to rule, while the Third prince plans to rule with a stong military.
Time passes, and the feud continues. The Third prince is in favour due to his mother's rank and grows his personal army. The Second prince cares for his family and economy.
The twin sisters were torn. They could no longer meet with the feud on the brink of a civil war. Stars' husband wanted to do something for his only wife, but knew there was nothing he could do. Moon's huban did not care for his four wives' needs and took another wife for political gain
Moon had fallen ill and suddenly passes away. Stars could not be with her sister at her final moments and was devastated at Moon's death.
One stormy night, the royal highness's heart had had enough of the feud between the princes and collapses. Laying on his bed, he wishes the brohers will stop the feud and if there was a way he could end it. Sadly, he knew it was his fault for not appointing an heir soon and there was nothing to be done now. The royal highness grew weaker by the day.
One night, Stars and the Second prince were attending to the royal highness. The Third prince had enough of his royal highness brushing the heir issue and gathered his private army and charged through the palace. He fought his way to the royal highness's. Arriving at his royal highness's door, he bursts through. Blood dripping from his sword. The Second prince quickly icks up a sword. "Brother, this is not the time or way to our problems." "Do not tell me what to do. I will take what is MINE!" The Third prince yells and lunges. Metal clashing metal. The Third prince sees Stars and snickers. He charges towards her. The Second prince hastily moves to protect his wife, stabbing the Third prince with his sword. The Third prince falls to his death and the Second prince sheds a single tear at the loss of his brother. Witnessing the event, the royal highness orders for the removal of the body, and the guards start dragging the body. "He may have caused treason, but show some respect..." The Second prince says in a low voice. The guards takes a glance towards the royal highness for his approval, to which he only nods. With the fall of the Third prince, the feud was over and the Second prince was appointed crown prince.
Soon the royal highness falls, and the Second prince becomes the next ruler. He lived a very long and peaceful life, using economy and arts to influence neighbouring lands. He took no other wives and appointed an heir as soon as possible, yet he treated all his princes equally.
Stars lived a long life, surrounded by her children and their children. She passed away with a smile on her with loved ones around.
On the day she passed the moon was up at day and shooting stars were in the sky at night.
Some say they saw two bright stars appear near the moon that night.
