This is going to drive me insane. LA's are fine. Occassionally (not often) they create rather exciting bidding wars, and you can sell something for a much higher price. But c'mon guys - you know you're not going to take 1mp for your chibs potion, so why start it there? I've wasted too much of my time bidding on things that I never get, because the seller decided the price wasn't quite good enough. Decide what you want for it, and start the bidding slightly below that. If it goes higher, great. If not, at least no one has wasted their time bidding for something you don't want to sell, and you'll get something out of it. Making 1mp LA's only to get 60 posts and then decide you're not selling after all gets no one anywhere. And the random chat must STOP, people. I'm an adult - many of us are - and I for one do not want anymore "was up?" mm's from people I do not know. If you're on my friends list, that's one thing - but how do these people FIND me? "wan 2 b frnds?" is annoying. My friends have been selected because, for the most part, I've had successful dealings with them in the past. This is not a grade school playground. Chat speak. Oh, chat speak. I'll admit to using it when I'm texting to save characters. But on a forum, it's irritating. Especially when you are trying to sell something. Stop. Please. I won't nitpick your grammer, spelling or punctuation, but PLEASE use words that people over 13 can understand. Constant forum posts "Quitting." "Ian, please read." "Staff - fix...(insert broken feature here)." Where do I begin? Staff has lives. Ian has a life. They provide a site for you to entertain yourself on. However, their sole purpose in life is NOT to make you happy. It's like going to McDonalds and demanding the cashier take you to Disneyland. Get a hamburger and get over yourself. Things break. Deal with it. People get sick, or maybe they just don't feel like working that day. Happens all the time. Leave them alone. If Mara isn't entertaining you, find something that will, but don't demand staff make changes to Mara just because you're bored. News is fun. It's exciting. I love news. But I'm not going to make 27 different topics if we go without it for awhile. Trade offers with wishlists like - "Overoffers only." "Don't mail me." "No newbies." Huh? Not exactly the best way to sell something there, champ. Are you really that busy you can't take the time to answer a simple mail about your trade? And WHY exactly can't newbies bid? How are they ever going to learn what things are worth if you get snippy every time they ask. When I first started playing, I honestly thought I could get a Viotto for 200k. Someone was nice enough to explain to me that they cost millions. I apologized. Now I know. Without nice people to explain things, you're going to keep getting junk offers. And stop putting "free" on the wishlist when you know you're not going to give it away for less than 100k. Experienced users know free means "how much can I get." Newer players really think it's free. There. I think I'm done now. Just my own personal rant and pet peeves. Feel free to agree or disagree.
The amount of points you recieve seems to have something to do with the rarity of the items you buy. Not sure what the correlation is yet. Items bought for BP, RP, or Dukka Coins do NOT add to the balance of your points. Neither (as I found out after I thought I had a great idea) do things bought in the millionaire lodge. Apparently it's only the MAIN SHOPS that give you points. This is all I know so far...will update when and if I figure anything else out.
Okay, I'm going to rant for a moment. This is a game. An addicting, well thought out, interesting game, but it IS just a game. The MP is not real - there is no cash out button here. I understand the competitive nature of certain people, but come on - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
As you know if you've read my blog, I've offered my help to anyone who needs it. Apparently this is license to open the floodgate for begging, whining, and just plain rudeness. People ask me to make newbie packs for them, I spend time and MP doing it, and then they never collect. Okay, I can understand that - life gets in the way. Maybe they got a better offer. Maybe they tried Mara for a day and never came back. But people, the mail is getting ridiculous.
"Can I have your (insert expensive item here)." No. I worked for my things and you shall work for yours. It builds character.
"Will you buy (insert horridly overpriced junk item here) from my shop?" Umm...no. If I was in the market for a Rock Gumball, I would certainly visit the gumball machine, or buy it for 1mp on shop search - I have no urge to purchase yours for 21998mp.
"Come on - please! I need the money!" Then I suggest you go do a quest, play a game, or tone down your taste until your bank account can match it.
I'd like to say here that I have never hit either the "report" or the "block" button. I believe everyone deserves their chance, and if they get in trouble, it will not be from my IP. But is a bit of common courtesy too much to ask? If you request my help, I will do what I can to steer you in the right direction. If you beg for my items, I will teach you how to get your own. But please, please, PLEASE realize this is just a game and accept my answer (my FIRST answer, not the seventeen subsequent answers I am sometimes required to give) as my final one.
Exceptions are for those who have asked for my help, genuinely needed it, and are grateful - cOILLAT, that would be you.
