???So much for a lonely night out, huh boy,??? I mused as I stroked the neck of my beloved Viotto Clisten. I had been sitting out in the winter cold for about an hour talking about my home life. Things weren???t so good, but telling people just made it worse, so I confined to my best friend, Clisten who always listened and managed to make me laugh one way or another.
In the middle of my story, I noticed Clisten wasn???t looking at me, but towards the woods where he lived.
???What is it boy???? ???Did you see something????
I got up from where I was sitting and stood next to Clisten. I could tell something was troubling him because his entire body had become stiff and solid. Just as I was about to take a step towards the woods, Clisten broke off into a full blown gallop.
???Clisten, Come Back!??? I screamed, suddenly breaking into a sprint. He was a whole five yards ahead of me, easily jumping and gliding over ice covered rocks and underbrush. If only I could be just as graceful. I chased him and mimicked his every turn until he had come to his destination.
He turned his towards me and blinked twice. I came to a stop a couple feet away and tried to catch my breath. After about three minutes of embarrassing breathing noises and hard breathes, I regained my composure and approached my friend.
???Why did you run Clisten, what were you trying to find???? I asked mumbling. I never expected an answer, so when I received one, one could imagine how startled I was.
???I wanted to show you something, I trust you and our long friendship has proven it. It is a place only few know about, and even fewer have seen. But you have deserved this.???
I starred at him, unable to speak. He had just talked, no he had just spoken to me. He nudged my back and pushed me forward. He was strong because if he hadn???t of pushed me, I probably wouldn???t have moved. I finally turned to the opening and couldn???t believe what I saw. There in front of me where thousands of penguins. But not ordinary penguins, They were of all colors and sizes, Ranging from inches to several feet high, playing on magnificent crystal sculptures and snow covered forts.
???Come child the night of your life awaits.??? Clinten said from behind me as he pushed me towards the impossible site. Many of the penguins surrounded me and pulled me toward their large slides.
The night was more than amazing. I played a sort of tag created by the penguins. They showed me around, and I made many new friends, like Karls the red freckled penguin. Karls showed me how to make icey-icles and how to eat a fish without having to smell the awful fish smell. That was the last thing I remembered before I woke up.
I woke up with a start, I could feel the cold snow on my face. I was also shivering uncontrollably. Slowly getting up, I surveyed the area. Clisten was asleep next to me, curled against my left arm.
???Clisten wake up,??? I cooed stroking his head. He moved his head to the left, then to the right, before opening his eyes to look at me.
???Boy, what happened why am I out in the cold???? He just starred at me, completely blank. I could vaguely remember the events of last night, it was all a blur. Running in the woods, then, nothing. Clinten stood up and looked towards a medium sized pine tree. I did to, and I could have sworn I saw a small red creature move, but I didn???t moved because I was to cold. He slowly turned to me, and licked my cheek, before grunting and prancing towards my small hut that was less then half a mile away. What a strange night. Maybe some day I will remember it.
I never did though, I only had vivid dreams about colorful penguins and beautiful ice sculptures. Clinten would always visit me after school, and we remained the best of friends. That night I woke up in the woods is still a mystery for me.
