What Type 1 Diabetes is.

Diabetes is a disorder that affects the way your body uses food for energy. Normally, the sugar you take in is digested and broken down to a simple sugar, known as glucose. The glucose then circulates in your blood where it waits to enter cells to be used as fuel. Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, helps move the glucose into cells. A healthy pancreas adjusts the amount of insulin based on the level of glucose. But, if you have diabetes, this process breaks down, and blood sugar levels become too high.

There are two main types of full-blown diabetes. People with Type 1 diabetes are completely unable to produce insulin. People with Type 2 diabetes can produce insulin, but their cells don't respond to it. In either case, the glucose can't move into the cells and blood glucose levels can become high. Over time, these high glucose levels can cause serious complications.

Type 1 most often occurs before age 30, but may strike at any age. Type 1 can be caused by a genetic disorder. The origins of Type 1 are not fully understood, and there are several theories. But all of the possible causes still have the same end result: The pancreas produces very little or no insulin anymore. Frequent insulin injections are needed for Type 1.

To prevent further questions, I have tried to answer all of below:

What do you have to do to put insulin in your body?

I must take a shot at least four times a day, including 2 A.M. in the morning. This includes every meal. Any problems that consist inside my body may imply that I will be going low, or high, as some say. I also have to inject a nightly fluid to prevent going extremely low or high in the night while I rest.

What does insulin smell like?

Insulin smells as though gas has leaked and gone through a substantial change. I am not quite sure why my nose detects it as gas...

How many shots do you take a year?

Four shots a day on average total to 1,460 on an average year. This estimate is not always correct, as I may feel differently throughout hours of the day.

If your blood sugar is high, what do you do to lower it?

I often take 1 or 2 units and drink water. Water lowers my body's blood sugar, thinning it.

If you are low, what do you do?

I eat my 100 calorie packs without any intake of inuslin injected of my body.

What does it feel like to be low?

That is a difficult question, as many others get different responses to your body's inability of sugar. I feel like I have run miles and miles after weeks of being confined to bed. I often receive small, minor headaches, and knee pain.

What is the average blood sugar level?

90 - 120.

What was your blood sugar level when you entered the hospital?

879

How do you know if you are going to get diabetes?

Diabetes type 1 is hereditary. Please see that you execute family members who have been diagnosed. Type 2 can be caused by extreme obesity, or unhealthy appetite.

I can not get drunk. Losing control of my body could make me lose my life, so it is not suggeste I drink.

I would love to hear your questions...maramailing me would be fine.

I am fairly good at graphics, however I wish not to release them to the public. Such a high stealing rate on Mara, and all the world, has me a little shaken. I refuse to make anyone graphics at the current moment.
I use Gimp, as I can not afford Photoshop.

I have two idols on Mara;;

Sara (Sarasmile2009)
Ian

I have many things to say about them, and all are positive. I haven't the foggiest what I'd do if either started to dislike me, so I hope to remain neutral.

I live in Texas, but I was not affected by Hurricane Ike. I pray every night for those who have lost homes, and have had damage. It is the worst hurricane to hit Texas in 50 years for sure, and it is possible the past 100 years.

I do not have a Texan accent. In fact, I can not stand the word 'ain't' or 'fixin'' I find the words improper for use, and slang is not a main part of my dictionary. I do use contractions, although they are labeled as slang.

I prefer if you not maramail me to talk, or just pointless conversation. I do have the time to chat with out, but I don't feel like it most of the time. I can be a nice person, a sweet-hearted innocent young woman, but at points I can be a little moody. It'd be best if you left me alone, unless you are one of my close friends.

If I offend you in any way, I apologize. As I stated before, I can be moody at some points. The following lists what can tick me off:

wen u tok lyk dis
Hate Mail
Improper Pricing of Graphics
Improper Labeling of Graphics (High Quality is actually Low Quality....etc.)
Chatspeak
Chatspeak
Chatspeak

LOL, ROFL, LMAO, ROFLMAO do not offend me as much as 'lyk, mayb, wed, hav, 2da, 2, 4, (in use of 'to' and 'for' ) and others like that.

If you have actually read this all, you will know what to do. In order to earn my respect, you have to stand up for what you believe in, and don't steal...

Thank you for reading,
Kallia.
