Omg Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is seriously the best I recommend them 100%! Hetalia and Pandora Hearts are meh. No offense to the fans of Vampire Knight but I thought the anime was pure garbage. So much like Twilight it was icky. Sekai ichi hatsukoi and junjou romantica are good if you're into yaoi.
I recommend you watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Code Geass, and Mirai Nikki (If you like battle royal/hunger games, you would love this one).

I don't really have a specific genre that I like more than others, but I can say that I generally prefer more serious animes. And yaoi. If that counts. xD
And yeah, Fruits Basket doesn't appeal to me. Haha.
