I held a pet giveaway where the entry was a short story about the pet they were applying for, I want to commemorate my favourites!

The winner of Emended the midnight Yuni

"Emended was a runt when he was born. All of the stronger unicorns made fun of him for being so tiny and fragile. Every day he went to the fields in order to play with the other unicorns and make some friends, but he'd always end up crying because no one wanted him to join in their game. The unicorns thought little of him. They'd not only exclude him from playtime, but from meals, school, and even chores. They thought he was incapable of doing the simplest of tasks.

One day, Emended looked at his dull self in the mirror and he realized that he had potential. He polished his horn extra shiny that day, packed his lunch and school supplies, and sprinted past all of the other unicorns in order to get to school. They were all amazed! How was the weakling so fast? Once he was at school, Emended sat in the front row of his least favourite class- astronomy. He thought that learning about the sun was the most boring thing in the universe! When the bell rang, and all the seats were full, the teacher said, "Okay unis, today we're learning about the moon, stars, meteor showers and the planets!" Emended groaned. He hated this class. The teacher explained that the moon cycle, and surprisingly, Emended was captivated. He took notes and listened attentively for the WHOLE class. The teacher assigned homework and it was time for chemistry.

Emended couldn't concentrate on chemistry. Who could when there was a world out there that they could explore? He sprinted home after Chemistry ended- skipping french and gym. When he got home, he opened his laptop and researched the moon some more. His eyes seemed to have stars in them while he was researching. He went to sleep that night with a smile on his face, and dreamed of the moon.

When he woke up for school the next day, he ran to his astronomy class and told his teacher ALL about the universe, paying particular attention to the moon and stars. His teacher told him about astronomers, and astronauts. He quickly decided that he wanted to see the moon for himself.

Starting that day, Emended studied and studied, and got straight A's all throughout junior and senior year. He got accepted into university and did his undergrad in astronomy and then went to NASA for astronaut school.

-10 years later-

Emended worked his butt off for 10 years and got promoted to the position of an astronaut. Tomorrow, he would go up into space! He sprinted home yet again, and went to sleep at 7 pm after packing to ensure he got the right amount of sleep.

He sprinted to his office the next day at 6 am and boarded the shuttle early. He drew pictures of the moon and wrote down all he knew about it. 2 hours later, the other astronauts arrived, and the shuttle was ready to take off.

WOOSH, Emended's heart seemed to take off with the shuttle. The trip seemed short due to his excitement. Soon enough, they arrived.

Emended insisted that he should be the first to step foot on the moon, and the other astronauts hesitantly agreed. He did a backflip on to the moon, and immediately began jumping around. While the other astronauts were putting their flag on the moon, Emended saw a glowing blue rock. Being the curious unicorn he was, he picked it up. Immediately his suit and helmet were ripped off. He thought he would die. But his entire body lighted up. He was blue, with sprinkles of white. There was mist covering his body. His mane turned light blue. And his horn was gradient. He cried. He thought it was a disease. The other astronauts looked at him and panicked. They jumped back in the shuttle and left him.

-1 hour later-
He was sitting on the moon, waiting to die. Emended then realized that he could breathe. He could still move. He wondered why. "It must be the stone!" He thought. And indeed it was. It was the stone of night, granting its power to breathe in space to the biggest lover of the darkness.

Emended still spends his days on the moon, helping it continue its cycle, and dooming the unicorns who once made fun of him, with complete darkness at least once a month."

Extreeeeemely close second

"It was late in the evening when Emended crawled out of his bed and tiptoed ever so quietly out the front door. It was Halloween you see, but he'd been forbidden to Trick or Treat. You see he'd gotten into the special Halloween candy bowl his family had prepared especially for the holiday and placed on a table near their Marahome door. Emended was wearing his favorite costume, Moonlight, and was eager to show it off. Unfortunately, most of the Marahomes this late at night had their lights off. Em walked down his block and over to the next block. He only found a few houses that still had some candy left. He wandered farther and farther in the darkness. Around midnight, Laulu awakened and walked into Em's room. Laulu loved Em unconditionally and never thought for a minute he would be disobedient. Laulu's heart skipped a beat. "Em, Emended, where are you? You'd better be in the house," Laulu shouted. There was no answer. Laulu dressed quickly and ran out the door just as Emended was quietly sneaking back in. "Emended, You are in BIG trouble little guy! Give me the candy, all of it, right now!" Emended only had a handful of candy and knew that that handful was a heavy price to pay for the grounding that was to come."

Winner of Orisai the skeleton quell

"There once was an quell named Orisai. Lanky, thin, rather pale, and well, made of bones. Literally.
One day on mara, while looking for food (ya know, being bone-thin and all), he stumbled upon a quaint little hut. It was pretty barren, yet there was a fridge inside filled with food! He tried to chew and eat all the food, but because he didn't have a stomach (remember, he's a skeleton), everything fell to the floor and was ruined and mashed.
It sure was not a pretty sight to see! Especially when the owner (me!of the hut came home... oh boy...
Orisai looked up and panicked a little. He didn't think he would get caught! The owner didn't think her food would get ruined from some skeletal otter!
Instead punishing Orisai, the owner force-, I mean, "asked" him to move in with her for companionship to makeup for the ruined food.
In reality, she didn't even care about the food, she just wanted a new pal "
