I worked for Amazon a couple of years back at Christmas time.
I'm not sure if all depots are the same but we were treated like crap.
We had a point system where if you get 3 points they sack you.
-half a point if you call in sick for 1 day, 1 full point for more than 2 days sickness.
-half a point if you're late.
-1 full point if you go into work and then go home if you're sick.
When it was Christmas and the roads were deadly icy (my shift was at 5:30am so had to leave home at 4:30) I crashed my motorbike. I wasn't far from work so I still drove there and as it was dark I couldn't really see the damage to my bike and myself.
Got there, clocked in, then I got over the shock and decided it was best to call my dad to come get me.
Although my manager could see the state I was in, they still pointed me for going home.
I hope this was just the depot in my city though and hopefully they treat you better than they treated us.

Personally amazon hasn't been overtly famous with me. The constant feed back of poor work care and no tax payment thing sure makes me want to kick it up the ..nose....
