I remember you.

The way your hazel eyes shined when you smiled.

Your salt and pepper hair.

The love that was always felt when you were near.

You left this world too soon.

There was so much you missed.

So much that I didn't care to do because you weren't here to see it.

But, I never gave up.

No matter how much I wanted to, I couldn't.

I am my father's daughter.

Taught to get back up after a fall.

Taught that you have to fight for the things you want in life.

Taught to care about others, unconditionally, no matter what they may have done.

Taught that what does not kill me will only strengthen me.

There is a reason for everything in life.

I have grown up believing that with all my heart.

You were the one who gave me strength.

The memories I have of you were always filled with laughter and love.

Yes, I wish you were here, everyday of my life.

Time and Time again you have resided in my poetry, my songs, my heart

This is where you live now, and always.

I thought that you were gone, but now I know, you will never be truly gone.

You have been here, with me, always.

I am a little piece of you.
