Septic tank woes

8 days, 13 hrs & 2 mins ago
28th Aug 2025 07:14Hubs and I had our septic tank reworked the other week to get the wires into a better location. It turns out our home inspector missed two live wires being stapled to wood.. with the staples going through the wire and consistently popping bolts of electric out every time they were touched.
The work gets done, everything seems to be going well. Until the septic alarm goes off. And again. And then multiple times daily.
The electrician tells us he???ll be by in the following week to check it out, just hit the reset button on an outlet he installed on the same line. The reset button works until it begins to glow an angry red and pops at me when I go to push it (oops lol).
We get an emergency order in and a guy is sent out first thing in the morning. Turns out it was wired wrong, but he admits they did it the way they did because there were no labels from the original set up and the wires weren???t different colors so they did the best guess work they did.
He corrects the issue, now that he knows that configuration doesn???t work, this other one supposedly does. He says our septic likely hasn???t had power for days and we???re lucky we had such a big tank or we???d be having all of our waste flooding our home and we???d have been displaced for months as the crews would have to clean, replace all drywall, all of our furniture be ruined by sewage, etc.
We???re very lucky to have caught it when we did.
