“When everyone admired my power
and wanted to flatter me,
You’re the only one who scolded me.
But, right now,
When everyone wants me to die
and hates me ,
You’re the only one standing by me.”

After almost 5 years of living with family I am finally in my own place. Very excited & love my new apartment. I have moved to the city! Never ever in my wildest dreams would I thought I'd be living in the City. I have a Studio apt near the top floor with a great view. I have 2 floor to ceiling windows. I initially planned to live near my daughter & the hospital. However she finally told me she is moving out of state for a job. I was so upset about that but once the shock wore off I was happy. I want her to live her dreams. She is moving to Alaska to be a tour guide on a whale watching boat. It's only temporary (May-Oct) so she will be back. So since she won't be around I decided on this apartment downtown. I live in St. Louis with a great view of the Gateway Arch. Can't wait for July 4th when there will be fireworks. I remember ages ago when I was visiting the Arch for the 4th & thinking how neat it would be to watch from the various buildings there. It's not the safest place. Since I signed my lease about 3-4 weeks ago there has been a suicide (some homeless fellow threw himself in front of traffic, some guy shot his wife same place, a rolling gun battle & an armed robbery at the convenience store next door. My place has security 24-7 & I make a point of not going out after dark.

Those are words I never expected to hear. Heart problems have been the curse in my family. I have back & GI issues so when I ended up in the ER with abdominal pain I figured it was somehow related to those. After a long wait for results of a CT scan, I was called into an exam room. The doctor tells me I have a large mass in my left side. It was about the size of a large grapefruit. I spent the weekend in the hospital & was discharged Monday evening after having a biopsy done of the tumor. Took a couple weeks to get results. Two very long weeks. I knew it was bad.

Leiomyomasarcoma. The journey has begun. Oncology referred me to a surgeon with experience removing sarcomas. My tumor is inoperable at the moment. He referred me to a medical oncologist. The doctor is a nice young lady. I'm going to be taking a trial medication & radiation. I will take the pill daily, Tuesday through Friday. Today I met with the radiologist & team. I will receive treatment Monday through Friday for 5 weeks. A cast of my torso is made & markers made that will allow the radiation to be directed exactly where it is needed & not where it isn't. My left kidney unfortunately will be damaged & eventually be removed along with the tumor. If it all goes as planned the expected surgery will be close to Christmas.

LMS is a relatively rare cancer. There are 3 types. Mine is the least common of the the 3. There isn't a cure. It can be managed. I've read quite a bit about it now. Joined a Facebook support group. Some people whiz through the process & haven't had a recurrence. Others are having no such luck.

10/17/19- I start radiation on Monday. Five weeks of it then in 4 weeks a CT scan will hopefully show the tumor has shrunken enough to be surgically removed. If not then I'll start chemo in addition to radiation.

10/25/19- One week of radiation done. There isn't any going slow at first.

11/23/19- Completed my 5 weeks of radiation yesterday. Plan is to take about 4 weeks to let my body 'cool off' from the radiation. Hopefully surgery before the end of the year.

12/28/19 -- Four weeks of "rest" finished. Have seen the surgeon and still not operable. I've lost about 30 lbs. Will see the Oncologist this coming Thursday. Currently my biggest issue is nutrition. I want to eat but the tumor takes of space.
Sort of like having weight loss sur

It's been a week today since my dog, Daisy, crossed the bridge. I am so heartbroken. So so much. I can't bring myself to look at all the photos I took and videos. The day she went, it has snowed just a little the night before and her prints were in the snow. The next day it warmed up and it was so hard, knowing the prints were going to go away. The last pieces of her. She slept with me every night for 10 years. It's like part of me is gone. My other dog, Fluffy, died the first week of April this year. I think it's been so much harder because now I am alone. ALONE. My daughter is home this past week and this week from college but that is just temporary. It's so strange not having to get up in the morning to take Daisy outside, not having to do this or that because of her. I catch myself starting to say something to her or about her. Her leaving wasn't unexpected. She was old. It was her spine that became the problem. She began to have pain. And it became apparent that it couldn't be fixed and one day her back legs gave out while we were outside and she gave me the saddest look I've ever seen. My heart broke. I knew she was ready. No matter how much I know we did the right thing and I wouldn't want her to hurt anymore, I surely wish I could have her back, if only for a few moments more. It's only been a week but it feels like forever and yet not real. I just want to wake up and find it's been a nightmare and that there she is, looking at me with her squished face from sleeping. I'll get on but it's gonna be hard.
