DNA won't be avaliable in shops. Each colour DNA will have its own specific place around the site, its just taking a while to prepare them all. White DNA is from the Slot Machine, Yellow is from Promoting Marapets, Black is in the Pirate Ship, etc. It was a rumour I have always denied that they'll be in a shop in Baspinar's Castle - only one of the colours will be. Smuggling will also have one of the colours so stock up on Dukka Coins! How many times can you be banned until you're banned forever? ~Narrock Third offence is a permenant ban. Please read our Account Penalties page that explains it all. In some cases, a permenant ban is given without any chances at all. As of now, why is there new features and items being added to marapets when there's still so many glitches around? ~Sukiam6 There isn't so many. The site is playable and 99% of the site works perfectly. I'm not going anywhere near the glitches because in two to four weeks time we will have scheduled maintenance where we can complete the set up of the site's hardware. Obviously things can't be done overnight, especially on a free site, so its taken us this long to complete. We'll go down for 24-48 hours, hopefully mid-week and not a weekend, so that we can make the move. I'll set up a second site so that you can login and use forums and play games while we are down. Why do the layout images either take ages to load or not load at all? It seems very weird because I know you guys have upgraded servers and all the other images on the site work fine, it's just these particular ones. It's very weird. ~telegramsam The images and the layout are on a different set of servers. The layout is 250-500KB and for some people is loaded on each page, because they do not cache images with their browser. Mozilla Firefox is the best browser for doing this. When there is a lot of people online, its a lot of requests for the layout servers to do. It will be fixed in a few weeks. We've decided against doing upgrades all of the time, but instead we've been saving to do all the upgrades we need at once. Which is more important to you, fixing mistakes or adding new content? Obviously they are both important but if you could only do one of these things for say a month, which would it be? ~Vandalin Both are important, but it depends on how much time I have. If I have an hour and its not enough time to release something new, I fix small bugs. Big glitches tend to get fixed as soon as I find out about them. Laimay does work 6 days a week, so if I don't release new content it builds up and I have to release even more later, which takes ages to do. Do you ever sleep Ian? Everytime I check the "Online users list" your on it - even when it's probably 3AM where you live. Just wondering ~petlover11952 Yea, but not enough. I sleep at odd times now, because I can't sleep for too long or I'll wake up and have emails from worrying Account Upgraders because its been 6 hours and 5 minutes since they donated. Weekdays I sleep 5pm to 10pm and then sleep 1am or 2am until 6am. Its weird times and not good, but I still manage 8-10 hours a night. If something is wrong with the site, I've had some nights with no sleep at all but I catch up and get a lot when the sites running fine. Then I went on holiday for three weeks and left Marapets for Laimay to look after, came back and one of the staff's account had been stolen and people were randomly being frozen. It wasn't be a big deal, but to those around it looked bad because I wasn't around. So even though it only took an hour for me to fix when I got back, the war seemed like a bad idea. We'll have our first plot and war later in the year when the Battle Arena is much better. Everything that looks simple on the site is actually very complicated, and with 103 million hits just in April, its hard to get the hardware to run in such demand. There is also the fact that its my last year in college and I have all of my exams starting in two weeks time - and I'm writing an editorial... With the release of all these new stamps, should we be expecting a new stamp themed quest such as the Tarquin Quests? ~baltsportsfan They are missions, not quests =P And eventually there will be missions for CDs, DVDs and Stamps. We also have plans for a huge quest that requires you to build and decorate a marahome exactly how they want it. Can you explain in layman's terms, just what makes this site safer for my child? There are so many issues with other pet sites, so what do you do to protect the little-ist pet owners? ~cherliquidair Those who sign up as under 13 do not have access to the forums, Maramail or Clubs. They have no interaction with other players other than automatic responses such as 'User has made an offer on your trade'. Parents who allow their child to use forums, maramail or clubs mean that they have full access as if they were over 13. We have amazing word filters which block out all inappropriate content and have moderators on the site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Forums also moderate themselves as topics or posts that are reported are hidden from members until a staff member checks over them. Anyone who has ever used our forums properly can see for themselves how safe they are =) What is your favorite feature on the site? ~nintendods There are so many.. but we both like the DNA minipets feature the most, we had fun creating that. Does this mean that she works here for a living? If so how does she make her money? You always say in response to people critiscising the amount of server errors here that you're saving up for better servers to eliminate errors but how can you save up and yet take money for yourselves? Especially when you're both still of an age to live with your parents and theoretically have no bills to pay, wouldnt it just be better to put all the money towards the servers then take whats left over rathere than taking money for 'wages' or whatever and using whats left over to pay for servers? ~Dying_Zwan You mean Laimay should of quit her paying job to work 9 hours a day, 6 days a week for free just so that we can get servers quicker? And what did your parent say when you wanted to start this site? ~m33epst3r The servers are in the US, in a private room of a datacenter on a private network at a server hosting company. And my parents didn't know anything about the site until my cousin started playing. My little boys wondered if you would ever have cars or other types of vehicles for the pets? I guess you could have them spray-painted different colours or fixed at the garage. One of the things I like about Marapets is the friendly people. I have "met" people from all over the world. Do the extra features expire after one month or a year? ~karenarp Forever, aslong as you don't break the rules and get your account banned. The domains only last for 12 months though. Will there ever be a timer on the events you need to wait for like the fasoro falls, missoins, fishing, and such so you can see how much time you have left to wait? ~niyadragun Later in the year I'll be adding a few new pages, one with a list of how long until you can do a daily again, one with the server status so you can see how well the site is running and what problems you might experience, and one with a bug/glitch list so we don't get hundreds of the same glitch reported. How many staff members work for marapets? ~kaos589 Laimay does ALL artwork. Then there is Ian, who replies to all emails, codes the whole site, manages the servers, runs the finances, comes up with almost all of the ideas, pays the bills, writes the editorials and anything else you could think of not listed there. Then we have other blue stars who make sure the site is kept safe, answers tickets and help members. We have red stars that help members out and keep the forum topics clean. And finally, we have two avatar makers and a team of hired flash programmers. In the last Editorial I read you're coming to Florida. I'm wondering where in Florida you're going to.
