You can get free clothes every day at the Clothing Rack in Lowlyhood, or you can buy an Account Upgrade with instructions to the Vending Machine, which will also give you free clothes every day for life. Shes on every day, except for Sunday because Sunday was supposed to be our day off. Shes always busy drawing stuff for us. In releasing the new "celeb dress up games", how do you decide which celebrities to use? ~RubyRedArgyle I'm trying to get distinctive characters at first. If you look so far, you cannot get anything more different from Avril Lavigne and Usher. Eventually we'll have hundreds of celebrity doll makers on the site, but for now I'm doing interesting characters with contrasting fashion styles and DIFFERENT hair. It won't just be younger celebrities, but obviously I'm going to do the most popular ones first. I read about a garden feature to go with the homes. Is that still a possibility and what will you be able to do with the gardens? (I ask because in reality I love to garden, I think it would be a cool feature) ~sylvrbdrfly Gardens will still be added when we get around to working on homes. But they are on hold now for quite some time. We first need to make sure we have the best character dress up system and best battle system and then the best homes. We'll never have the best if we work on all of them at once and rush them. When will the next special event take place? ~dragonda10101 The next special event will be Halloween. We have SO much planned for this year's halloween. We'll have the pumpkin hunt again, trick or treat, halloween themed news and lots of other new suprises we haven't done before. DON'T GO ANYWHERE THIS OCTOBER!! When is the 2 player battle going to be running again? ~Teako It won't be running again until we have our brand new battle arena. We have all of the plans finalised and have brought in extra help for this project because its too huge for me to do alone. You'll hear tons more about the new Battle Arena later in the year or early next year. Are there any plans to have hats for our dress up dolls? It would be fun! ~shyshilo1 We definately want hats and will have some kind of hats, but we're not 100% sure how they will work, because of all of the different hair styles, some hats won't look right. Like how can you put a beanie hat ontop of a huge afro wig? We might have to do it so each hat comes with a unique hairstyle and you can't change the hair. It'll be strange but it'll work. Maybe I'm just being a crusty old lady...but are we completely sure that the Zac Efron character stuff is OK from a legal standpoint? I don't know very well where the dividing line is in US law between paparazzi photos that can legally be used to sell (for example) magazines, on the grounds that the subject was already out in public and gave implicit consent, and other uses of the person's likeness that would require licensing or explicit consent. Certainly if you're about to walk through an area where movie/TV filming is taken place, there are massive signs advising you that entering the area means you've just consented to their using your likeness for profit in any medium forever, etc. Obviously I'm not going to call any Beverly Hills lawyers and call their attention to it--but if some celebrity had a really humorless and nasty-minded manager, they could make noise, at least to the extent of having their lawyer fire off a thundering letter. But maybe UK law regarding public figures is less protective of them in this as other things? Anyway, I think it's a great idea and am eager to see what more is in store. ~greatcham I'm not entirely sure how the law works either but I'm not too worried about it. We are not stealing the person's image, we're putting clothes, hair, shoes, etc that was created on marapets for marapets dress up doll system together to look similar to what they *may* wear. It clearly says they don't endorse it on marapets and if they have a problem with it, I can remove it. If they are really humorless and nasty-minded and decide to sue, I'll worry about that when/if it happens. You can clearly see on the forums that Zac Efron has tons of fans on Marapets and if he did turn around and sue a site where his fans harmlessly play and have fun dressing up like him, then I think it'll look far worse for him than it will for us. If they sue for financial gain, good luck to them, because we don't have much they can take. Maybe we can give them Laimay as a slave for 10 years.. thats got to be worth at least $100 lol When will we be able to use the Law or Politics Scholarship from the aquarium? ~marylou The Univeristy is on the new Lowlyhood map and will be released eventually. No dates will ever be mentioned though because it'll ruin the suprise. What do you consider the most important thing to update on this site? ~maraqueen259966 Good question.... I think its probably most important that I keep the servers and site's scripts constantly updated so we're always prepared for the growth of the site. Thats what I'm usually doing if I'm online and no news is coming out. But I like to keep the site totally unpredictable so theres not really a more important thing. We have most fun creating new worlds and filling them with new and unique content. Why isnt there any new and really fun games put on marapets more often?? ~rebeccacca We have lots of new games on the way, but because of the problems with Paypal, we've had trouble paying for the games and have spent the last few months trying to find another way. Our flash game programmers actually live in Malaysia and its really difficult to send thousands of dollars to them every few months without it looking fraudulent and without either one of us paying huge fees for the transfer. As soon as we have that problem sorted out we'll have new games again. You know when news comes it shows your character and stuff. Well will you ever do that with maramail or alerts or forums? ~jonellibell We used to have that and it was taken away because it lagged the site too much. But as I've been working on the site for a few months I've had it on my list of something that I want to bring back, so have been making all the necessary changes to bring it back really soon and not have the problem of lag. So it will be back really soon. When will club polls be fixed? I am not trying to be a pest but it has been like three months! ~Neverdreamalone Remember the news update sometime in May when we said our maintenance was finished? Ever since then, I've been quickly going throught *EVERY* section of the site and recoding it properly so it works properly with the new system. The maintenance left the site running amazingly fast and without any lag or downtime, but for us to get like that, the whole site had to quickly work with a new system we'd set up and because I didn't have much time for us to move over, we moved in a rush leaving lots of site full of glitches. As its been almost 4 months since this happened, I've almost got through the whole of the site. Clubs are still to be done but we're getting through it so quickly that we'll soon be glitch free and running this fast with no lag. Why don't you have more then 1 artists for marapets? ~AnimeCourage We tried to add a few new artists a while ago and was actually getting less done and it costing more. With more artists, it gives me much more work. I have to be online at more time zones, arranging more work for more people and organising everyone. It meant I had less time to release the artwork they were releasing and even less time to organise more work for them to do, so I was eventually paying more people to sit around waiting for me to give them work. Are there anymore Missions coming out in the future, or are they a secret? ~C00P3 Lots of new missions AND quests are coming. And yes, they are secret. Will there ever be facial expressions? ~nelly510 There will be. When we get around to it, you'll be able to change your mood when you update your profile, so people will know if your happy, sad, angry, etc. First off I'd like to say that I'm really impressed with the site and all the new changes. It gets better and better every day! How much would you say it costs you to keep up with maitenance and such on the site monthly? And since you have the Account Upgrades to help cover all those costs would you say that Marapets is actually a business venture for you or is it just a hobby? ~maryjane1959 We can't really get into details into what the site costs and what it spends on what because information like this is always mis-quoted and used out of context. Most months, adverts on the site help pay the bills, our wages and all of the other stuff that has to be paid every month. The Account Upgrades, as promised on that page, are 100% reinvested into the site. They pay for new stuff we need, or advertising or anything like that. The site is a business but also a hobby. We're lucky to be doing a job that we enjoy, with people we are friends with and on work that entertains thousands of people daily. Will you ever consider making a section in site preferences to be able to block people from sending you club invites or marapal request? ~gennie I am thinking about making the maramail block list also block people from sending you pets, club invites, marapal requests, offering on your trades/pet trades etc. I'm also thinking of adding the option of blocking club invites and marapal requests from everyone. But one thing we will never have is something that allows you to block mail from everyone and that allows you to hide as offline on the site. We are a community and I think that would be rude and a really anti social thing for us to have. What are your favourite aspects of the site? ~jacanorie I like the world maps. Its really fun for us to develop new worlds that have a unique theme. But it is also really difficult for us to do and takes months of careful planning to make sure everything on that world makes sense. Can you add a Vanessa Ann Hudges doll? ~blue5555 Eventually we will. I like high school musical and want to add all of the main ones for it eventually. She shouldn't be too hard to do anyway, she hasn't been wearing that many clothes recently... How do you come up with new ideas for the site? ~dollhouse We are creative and lots of the ideas just come to us. The Lowlyhood world was developed because we thought it was about time that characters got a lot of work, but we also need a new world to come out. We wanted something really different to the whole creepy and evil themed work we'd been having with the Eleka's Castle and the whole war thing. So we thought we'll have a world based on characters and then as I was in Los Angeles at the time, we decided to create our own hollywood - and then thought of celebrities. Once we get one idea, the other ideas flow. And if they don't flow, we add them to a LONG list and then use it later when it does flow. Like Poision items would never of worked on the site if we didn't have Eleka's Castle. Can you imagine a poision shop in any other world? Can you make a Miley Cyrus doll? ~janiew10101 We will eventually because I want to have one and because its one of the most requested celebrities for us to add. But its also one of the most not wanted too, so we'll wait until we have a few more celebrities first. What do you think of the user's on the site? ~CathrenKeelie The majority are really friendly and trust worthy. But what I don't like is how a lot of the older players have no patience with the newer players and refuse to help them when they make mistakes or need help on the site. Especially when they got the help they needed when they first joined. Will there ever be any accesories for our characters? like jewlerry, watches, make-up, bags, or purses? ~midnight93 Later in the year there will be. We will hats, earrings, eye makeup, makeup, bags, watches, tattoos, ankle jewellery, bracelets, necklaces and lots of other stuff. But we need more clothing first!
