Its not really unfair. People with dial up can't restock as good as those with faster connection, older computers can have trouble with making MP from flash games and those under 13 can't earn MP from posting on the forums. The Account Upgrades raise the money to keep the site free and has paid for most of the improvements we've had since we opened. You can win tons of upgrades every month too with the Prize Giveaway! When will the high scores like the avatar high score list start updating again? ~Mental1018 In a month or two when our server changes are complete. It will be automatic, every week. Right now there is no point wasting time doing it when it will have to be changed again. I sent in a question for the May 14th Editorial, but I never saw it on the board. Marapets is worked on by Laimay and I, but we have a great team of staff members from all over the world who keep the site running smoothly. If anything, things will run smoother soon when I have more time, rather than get worse when we have more users. How do you think up all the awesome events and things on mara? And where do you hide the ultra Marapet-y plans for the future? ~litoralis All of the great events we've had weren't actually planned, they are usually done last minute. Laimay and I talk every evening and have days where we just plan ahead and add it to our list. We've stopped doing that for a while, because the list is just too huge to complete anytime soon. Are you working on new marapets all the time? ~linda123 Not all of the time, but we will be working on a lot more when we catch up with all of the missing Plushies and Potions. It should be done soon. We have a non-limited edition, very cute, pet coming out soon - along with its own flash game too! Is the Baspinar castle rumour true that melted eggs and other retired items will be re-released in it? ~Hyper No. But some items wrongly marked "retired" when they shouldn't be because they are in actually needed in the game, such as for avatars, will be released in small amounts from Smuggling - so stock up on Dukka Coins, BP, MP and RP!! And we spend so much on advertising to get new members here, to me its stealing for people to come here and try to get players here to join their site instead. Thats why we have the funny filters. It is Laimay's full time paid job now, I don't get paid at all. I hope I will be by the end of the year, but right now there is too much I want done so even if I was paid, I'd only spend it back on the site anyway. Hi! Yeah, theres about a billion already, but it would be cool to have the owners have a help site :P ~Nuttee Believe it or not, our users know a lot more about the site than we do. When you are working on new content all of the time, you forget about a lot of the site. Laimay also calls the Quell a Quale, I really should correct her.. Will you ever have shoes for the characters? Maybe shorts for the girls, or longer skirts? More colors in the existing clothes? Patterns maybe? Shirts with pet pictures? ~pudgefudge There was a delay on Characters until we had the Flash Games section of the site organised. We have a team of flash programmers we pay monthly to create the games, do the artwork for them and test them. All I have to do is pay and send them ideas for each game. Now that I'm happy with that, I'll be doing the same with the Characters system and I'm hiring a team to run characters for us. What this means is, in a few months when we are completely organised, we should have atleast one new game a week (sometimes two) and lots of character clothing, shoes and accessories without much work from us, so we can spend all of our time on the rest of the site. The summer will be great for us xD What theme will the next account upgrades have? ~HamsterCutie I think June will have two themes, because the last two months have only had one theme. We haven't started planning them yet, we do them 3 days before the month is over. I love the fact you lifted the 350 character rules for roleplaying but now it`s worse! People are so illiterate it makes me sick(well,almost)and I get most of them to leave my roleplays but then they get angry and start to yell at me and call me illiterate when I try to post as much as possible which is around 350 characters. They drove many literates off the boards(like me)and I`m tired of it. Will it get stopped? If not, do you have any advice? ~mystic_waters I am thinking of adding a restricted Roleplaying board, but not for those who have an old enough account, but for those that have proved they can actually put a sentence togehter that makes sense and isn't an attempt at getting a boyfriend/girlfriend. If we do try this, I'll make the current Roleplaying boards pay no MP too. Right now I know I don't have time to decide who should have the right and who shouldn't but its definately on the list. Do you ever hate the pets Laimay has made? ~Oreo__ Yea, all the time. But she hates some things I do too. We just compromise - hence the tooth being removed from the Gonk. Do you ever wish you hadn't of started this site because it must be very stressful and you dont get a proper sleep and people moan alot!? ~lovelylaura I've never wished I hadn't started it, but it does get annoying sometimes. All of the blue stars get on so well with each other and the whole site is like a family too, so we manage fine. You know how certain 'bad' words are banned + changed? Well, why arn't words like 'hell' and 'damn' banned? I mean, I love those words but wouldnt that be offensive to smaller children on the site? ~scent Smaller children don't have access to maramail, clubs and the forums so don't get to see these type of word. And anyone who is 13 or over and is offended by those words will have a big shock when they are eventually allowed out of their plastic bubble. After you play a game you can earn marapionts plus an item. ~isabelladente We've got that already prepared for the new flash games, but there is a few problems still needing to be fixed. They are having loading screens added soon and then we'll release items and highscores for them. Do you think you can add a Restricted chat for people 2yrs+? You either want a chat for people aged over 2, when most 2 year olds can't type or you mean accounts older than two years, which is noone because the site isn't 2 years old until August. Good idea though... Ian, have u ever had braces? i just got them 2 day! :D ~something Yea, I had them a few years ago when I was 13 or 14. They're free so why not? It is good to have nice straight teeth :) Make sure you don't have drink or eat anything that would stain your teeth and that you brush your teeth all of the time! We'll be finishing all plushies, the new mission and then all potions missing. Then we'll tackle other sets of items, like books and weapons. Do you think you would ever have the site in a different language? I mean people could click a button and the text could turn to French or Spanish. Hey, I've been on marapets for quite awhile on and off, and since than Marapets has improved exceptionally well, for the past months and its just awesome. But what really gave/gives u the potential to continue on working on here day in and day out, even when things get really bad and fustering. We've had the protype done for a few and they are so cool I might actually keep them all and not sell any! On a virtual pet rating site, it said that being able too have your pets die, and having cool zombie pets that you were promoting the starvation and cruelty too your virtual pets, is this true? ~moneymakers1000 Yea I've read that too. I think it encourages responsibility, because if a pet is neglected it for long enough in real life it dies - nothing new there. I guess putting a Fire Costume on a pet is cruel too, so is over feeding them, so is a lot of the features of the site. Why is it that someone who has obvious programming talent would make a site that's like several other sites out there instead of doing something original? ~Hotaruset Your question was more like an essay so I've only put the main question on here. The site is original in its own way and as for the other site being better, I think you will find that everyone has their own opinion and enough people on here disagree. As for the stealing of "Advent Calendar" and "Tombola", thats like saying they invented Dogs and Cats and we stole them too. And you were right with the "no chance in hell" of you personally being a moderator. Even though we have lots of younger players, we do aim our content more at teenagers and adults. And we are no way near completing our plans for the site, where as some sites reached that point several years ago and are now just repeating the same content all of the time. With us, you NEVER know what to expect. The character thing is extremily stupid.. why don't you remove them? ~faeriepopgirl Remove them before they have even started? We only released them so early to integrate them into the layout before we run out room. Character related content will be released very regularly soon, and MaraTalk will use characters too.
